      Mikael is Senior Global Scientific Advisor, Global Scientific Engagement, and holds a PhD in Neuropsychology and an MSc in Psychology from Uppsala University, Sweden. He started his career at PMI in Medical Affairs within the Product Assessment and Scientific Substantiation department - the team that conducts clinical and post-market assessment programs.

      Before joining PMI, Mikael spent more than 25 years in pharmaceutical R&D and Medical Affairs working for Pharmacia, Johnson and Johnson, and Pfizer. There, he developed expertise in scientific, strategic, and operational leadership, and in respiratory, neuroscience, and addiction medicine. Mikael has Medical Affairs expertise as the Clinical Program Lead for pivotal Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) clinical programs, which led to U.S. NDA submissions and approvals.

PMI has a range of RRPs in various stages of development, scientific assessment and commercialization. All of our RRPs are smoke-free products that deliver nicotine with far lower quantities of harmful and potentially harmful constituents than found in cigarette smoke.
