First International Symposium on Nicotine Technology (ISoNTech)

      ISoNTech has been designed to showcase the latest technological advances in alternative nicotine delivery systems, next generation devices, and the science behind them. Given some concerns expressed about the new products, it is also important that we showcase the measures employed to test and assure quality control in their manufacture and regulation. Developers, manufactures and distributors are invited to demonstrate new products and discuss their design and development. The aim is to present a wide range of alternative delivery systems, including e-cigarettes, heat-not-burn and oral tobaccos. It is also important that we include presentations on ancillary technologies involved, including developing flavours and what quality control standards and testing of products looks like. ISoNTech will comprise a number of short presentation slots during which we aim to cover as many aspects of products and new technologies as possible. In addition there will be opportunities for ‘show and tell’ informal discussions, on the periphery of the main event. This will include video presentations and the opportunity to exhibit products and the technology behind them. ISoNTech will take place on the afternoon prior to the opening of the fourth Global Forum on Nicotine, which takes place in the same venue, and all participants in this – 350+ scientists, academics, public health professionals, politicians, manufacturers, distributors and consumers - will also be invited to attend ISoNTech.

      Reduced Risk Products ("RRPs”) is the term we use to refer to products that present, are likely to present, or have the potential to present less risk of harm to smokers who switch to these products versus continuing smoking. PMI has a range of RRPs in various stages of development, scientific assessment and commercialization. Our RRPs are smoke-free products that produce an aerosol that contains far lower quantities of harmful and potentially harmful constituents than found in cigarette smoke.
