Analysis of eight carbonyls in THS aerosol

The aerosol samples are generated with a linear smoking machine and collected with two micro impingers filled with 25 mM DNPH extraction solution to allow DNPH-derivatization of carbonyls. The solution is then stabilized with pyridine and sent to the analytical laboratory for analysis.
The extracts are analyzed by Ultra Performance Liquid Chromatography (UPLC) coupled to a tandem mass spectrometry with an Electrospray Ionization (ESI) interface in negative mode. The UPLC system is equipped with a column Waters Acquity BEH C18 1.7 μm, 2.1 x 50 mm.
Results are expressed as μg/item for P1.
