About Markus
Markus Nordlund holds an MSc in Engineering Physics and a PhD in Fluid Mechanics from Luleå University of Technology in Sweden. Markus joined Philip Morris International (PMI) Research & Development (R&D) in 2008 as a scientist in the fields of thermodynamics, aerosol physics, and computational modeling after his postdoctoral research at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne. During his tenure at PMI, Markus has held various positions in R&D, where he has used his knowledge of flow, heat and mass transfer, and aerosol physics in the development, assessment, and research of PMI’s smoke-free products. Markus led PMI’s computational fluid dynamics activities for a number of years, where he actively contributed to the development of a simulation software for aerosol physics and biomass thermodynamics that was used to develop and assess PMI’s smoke-free products. Markus is currently working as a Manager, Scientific & Medical Affairs, supporting various internal and external stakeholders in communicating the science of PMI’s smoke-free products.
