Unlimit Yourself and be part of the PMI Science Journey!
What is our postdoctoral program about?
Fostering innovation and building our science to the highest standards with passionate teams of experts from different scientific and technical backgrounds are a key priority for us. We have cutting edge technology, the best facilities and state-of-the-art R&D, as well as robust scientific methodologies that makes us the leader in R&D in our industry and allows us to promote scientific excellence.
This 2-year postdoctoral program will give you a unique opportunity to work on interdisciplinary and innovative research projects that have a direct impact on the development of our new RRPs. As a PMI postdoctoral fellow, you will be able to make a real impact on the development of our RRPs portfolio.
Based in our R&D Center in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, you will conduct your research project with the support and guidance of a mentor, who will be an expert in your field of research. You will periodically present progress of your research project to our Steering Committee. As a PMI postdoctoral fellow, you will have the opportunity to publish the outcomes of your research in leading and recognized scientific publications and be part of major research conferences.

Providing safer alternative products for smokers, who are not willing to quit, is our focus at PMI Research & Development (R&D)1.
Our primary goal is to develop a portfolio of Reduced-Risk Products (RRPs)* - that we believe will appeal to current adult smokers, but with a a risk profile that is significantly lower than currently marketed cigarettes. In order to assess whether switching to these Reduced-Risk Products can reduce the risk of developing the diseases most strongly associated with smoking when compared with continued smoking, we have developed a comprehensive and extensive scientific assessment program. See more at: https://www.pmiscience.com
Since 2008, we have invested over USD 2 billion in fundamental research, product development, scientific substantiation and adult smoker understanding. Many of the scientific disciplines are represented by PMI scientists and engineers including biology, physics, chemistry, electronic engineering, mathematics, computational science, medicine, pharmacy and fluid mechanics. We have over 430 scientists, engineers and technicians working across our sites, many of whom have had extensive experience within the pharmaceutical industry.
Although smoking rates are declining in many countries, it is estimated that by 2020, the worldwide number of smokers will be in excess of 1 billion. Providing safer alternative products for these smokers is our focus at PMI Research & Development (R&D) where we are developing novel products - a portfolio of Reduced-Risk Products (RRPs) - that we believe will appeal to current adult smokers, but with a risk profile that is significantly lower than currently marketed cigarettes. In order to assess whether switching to these novel products can reduce the risk of developing the diseases most strongly associated with smoking when compared to continued smoking, we have developed a comprehensive and extensive scientific assessment program.
