Disposable Vaping System

      Unlike our Tobacco Heating Systems (THS), which heats real tobacco, our vaping systems vaporize a nicotine-containing liquid to create an inhalable aerosol. Among the vaping systems we offer, one of them is the Disposable Vaping System (DVS), commercialized as VEEV NOW. This system eliminates the need for charging, cleaning, and refilling. 

      User experience

      The DVS holds 2 ml of high-quality e-liquid containing glycol, food-grade flavorings, and pharma-grade nicotine with two different nicotine levels: 1.8% (20 mg/ml) and 3.5% (39 mg/ml). Each device comes with a pre-charged ISO certified lithium-ion (Li-on) battery (280 mAh) that can provide up to 500 puffs (based on a puff duration of 1 second – may vary depending on individual usage patterns).

      There are no buttons to push on the DVS. Instead, the device activates automatically upon puffing and deactivates automatically once the session is complete and no more puffs can be taken. Additionally, it features an integrated light system that offers real-time status updates regarding the device's operation. For example, two pulses indicate an error condition while the light pulses ten times when the battery is depleted.


      For our DVS devices that are returned, over 80% of the components are recyclable through our circular program where the product will be cleaned and separated by material type, and then recycled into raw formats that manufacturers use to make new products.

      How does it work?

      The DVS is composed of a battery, electronics, an e-liquid storage, and heating elements including a new generation of heating coil and wick, capped with the mouthpiece. The wick operates through capillary action, which means that the e-liquid moves along the wick regardless of the force of gravity. Click on the diagram to get a closer look.

      Wick and coil technology

      The wick is made up of organic cotton and draws onto a coil-heating element the nicotine-containing e-liquid from a storage unit integrated into the device. The coil then heats up the e-liquid until all its chemical compounds evaporate into the gas phase. The gas phase rapidly cools down, leading to the condensation of vapor into liquid droplets forming the aerosol. In this diagram, we see:

      1. The electronic system is activated upon user inhalation.
      2. Upon activation, the heating coil's temperature will rise, leading to the conversion of free e-liquid into vapor.
      3. The vapor travels along the airflow path until it condenses into an aerosol prior to inhalation.

      Because vaping systems don’t burn tobacco and don't even contain tobacco, our DVS emits on average 99% lower levels of harmful chemicals compared with cigarettes, making it for adult smokers who don’t quit a better alternative than continued smoking. This does not necessarily equal a 99% reduction in risk. The DVS is not risk free and provides nicotine, which is addictive.

      The Philip Morris International (PMI) approach to substantiate reduced emissions consumer-facing product statement is based on the WHO 9 list. The WHO 9 was selected, because it allows to provide consumers with accurate and non-misleading information while improving the consistency of the messages across product categories and aligning with industry practices. Furthermore, this approach enables consumers to make educated and informed decisions about the products available on the market including product properties, benefits, and risks.
