PMI
The aerosols are generated on a linear smoking machine and collected using Cambridge filter pad (CFP) followed by a micro impinger filled with 10 mL of cyclohexane with internal standard. The content of the CFP is then combined and exctracted with the content of the impinger and delivered to the analytical laboratory. Solid phase extraction is performed to clean-up the samples before analysis. The extracts are then analyzed by Gas Chromatography with Mass Spectrometry detection (GC-MS) using a column DB-17 MS 30 m x 0.25 mm ID x 0.15 μm film thickness. Results are expressed as ng/item for the Tobacco Heating System (THS), referred to as Platform 1 (P1) in the method.

Reduced Risk Products ("RRPs”) is the term we use to refer to products that present, are likely to present, or have the potential to present less risk of harm to smokers who switch to these products versus continuing smoking. PMI has a range of RRPs in various stages of development, scientific assessment and commercialization. All of our RRPs are smoke-free products that deliver nicotine with far lower quantities of harmful and potentially harmful constituents than found in cigarette smoke.
