Scientific Summit on Tobacco Harm Reduction: Novel products, Research & Policy
Scientific Summit on Tobacco Harm Reduction, also known as No Smoke Summit, is an annual conference that provides opportunities for scientists worldwide to discuss and challenge recent data related to the benefits and the risks associated with alternative tobacco product use among smokers, with topics ranging from toxicology and aerosol chemistry to legal and regulatory issues. The event is aimed at all sectors (medical doctors, policy experts, behavioural experts, academics, and other professionals), and provides a forum to come up with a new broader approach to smoking control policies.

The 7th Summit on Tobacco Harm Reduction aims to bring together top researchers, clinicians, and scientists from around the world to present and discuss their work, and to foster constructive dialogue on tackling the global smoking burden. This year’s event features an open Call for Speakers, inviting experts in tobacco harm reduction, tobacco control, basic and medical science researchers, and related fields to contribute. The summit seeks to advance evidence-based policymaking and combat misinformation by showcasing basic research and clinical evidence. Discussions cover a broad range of topics, including toxicology, aerosol chemistry, biomarkers, epidemiology, harm reduction, public health, regulatory issues, and innovative tobacco products.

The scientific program of the Summit includes plenary and keynote lectures, as well as oral and e-poster presentations, on the following specific topics: toxicology and aerosol chemistry, biomarkers’ evaluation in animal or human studies, preclinical evaluation, epidemiology & social Issues, clinical assessment and harm reduction, public health, legal & regulatory issues, bioethics, innovation & novel products, smoking cessation, and educational issues in adolescence. At this conference, PMI scientists present a talk on the use behaviours following the introduction of a novel THP product and its perceived reduced risk of harm in four countries.
